Labor Day Weekend is HERE!!

It almost seems impossible, but Labor Day weekend has arrived and you won't find a more relaxing, historic and beautiful place to visit than the magnificent Flint Hills in Chase County.
For entertainment, start your weekend by attending the Emma Chase Friday Night Music all acoustic jam session that will be held inside the air-conditioned Prairie PastTimes building located at 331 Broadway in beautiful downtown Cottonwood Falls. Music begins at 7:30 PM and chairs are provided.
For artistic enjoyment, the 21st Annual Quilt Show will be held throughout the weekend at the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. Exquisite quilts will be on display in the limestone barn on Friday September 4, with photos of these same quilts being displayed Saturday, Sunday and Labor Day. Visitors may vote for their favorite quilt, and at 1:00 PM September 7, the winner will be announced.
While visiting the Preserve, be sure to take advantage of the opportunity for a scenic van tour of the prairie. You will learn about the geology of the Flint Hills, the various types of native tallgrasses, view spectacular vistas with the added bonus of seeing a herd of bison. Pre-registration for the tours are highly recommended by calling the visitors center for availability.
For those who are history aficionados, a tour of the iconic Chase County Courthouse in Cottonwood Falls is a must-do. Ken Grochowsky, a Chamber of Commerce board member, will be available to provide FREE, PRIVATE, GUIDED TOURS of the courthouse between the hours of 12:00 Noon and 4:00 PM Saturday, September 5. To schedule your tour, please call the Chase County Chamber of Commerce Office at (620) 273-8469, or stop by the Chamber Office which is located at 318 Broadway in Cottonwood Falls. If you will be visiting Chase County later this Fall, you may schedule a courthouse tour prior to your visit.
Have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend! We look forward to meeting you!
