For our Pioneer Bluffs fundraiser this year, everyone is invited to join Tallgrass Express members – past and present – for a celebration of the band’s 20th year of making music in the Flint Hills (including at Pioneer Bluffs!).

About the event

NOTE: This activity is taking place on a Sunday.

Activities will include a Barbeque Dinner by Smokin' O's Custom Catering, Reception with Cake (free) with “Band Alumni” & Jam Session, and Concert by Tallgrass Express (current band).

All DONATIONS for Dinner and Concert will GO TO PIONEER BLUFFS. Suggested Donations:

  • Dinner $15+
  • Concert $10+
  • Both $25+

The evening schedule is as follows:

  • 5:30 DINNER: for meal, please RSVP by Mon Sep 2 – by email: info@pioneerbluffs.org OR call 620-753-3484
  • 6:30 DOORS OPEN (for those not attending Dinner): Reception (no RSVP needed), cake, visit with Band Members, and JAM session with Band Alumni
  • 7:30 CONCERT: Tallgrass Express is known for their original “Songs of the Flint Hills” celebrating the landscape, wildlife, history, and ranching culture of the Flint Hills, since 2004.

The CONCERT will feature current members: rancher-songwriter Annie Wilson on guitar and vocals – named the “Flint Hills Balladeer” by the Kansas Governor in 2013; Carl Reed on vocals, bass and harmonica; and Derrick Doty on fiddle and mandolin.

This year Tallgrass Express released a new double CD “Out on the Tallgrass Prairie” – the fourth album in their “Songs of the Flint Hills” series.
